Tom Lovelace – Dazzle Site – Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Art Licks and YSP collaborated to bring together four artists to react to their time spent at the park after being invited to live and work on site for two weeks. Miriam Austin, Sam Belinfante, Frances Scott, and Tom Lovelace all created new works for the show, entitled ‘On The Heights’, curated by the Director of Art Licks – Holly Willats. The works respond to the extraordinary setting of YSP and explore the history and landscape of the area.
A.Bliss was proud to sponsor Tom Lovelace’s works exhibited in the Booth Gallery. These consisted of photographic, assemblage works displayed with and without frames. From a technical, framing perspective, the solid beech frame which straddled each side of a corner in the space created an unusual but arresting form of artwork display. A metal sheet was joined to a mounted aluminium print inside the frame realising the artist’s aesthetic ambition of using joins, corners and angles to full effect. We also mounted C-type prints on aluminium and fitted hanging systems to the back to be presented in a grid formation.
