Susan Hiller – Lisson Gallery
This was Susan Hiller’s debut exhibition at Lisson Gallery – it was made up of early works such as Painting Blocks (1970–84) and Another (1986), alongside more modern creations such as ‘On the Edge (2015)‘. The latter consists of 482 views of 219 British coastline locations in which rough seas meet land, capturing dramatic and ghostly mementos presented in postcard form, collected by Hiller over many years. A.Bliss mounted these postcards in specific grid formations using traditional hot mounting techniques. Around 500 cards were carefully positioned and mounted ready to fit into 14 individual waxed oak box frames, also produced by A.Bliss.
