Simon Brann Thorpe – Toy Soldiers
Simon Thorpe’s long running photographic project involved a creative partnership with a Sahrawi military commander and Polisario soldiers posed in the desert as life-size toy soldiers. Thorpe used the project, in part, to bring awareness to the sadly under reported Western Saharan conflict between the Polisario Front and Morocco which has been ongoing since the 70’s. Whilst the UN monitors the current ceasefire, the dispute is far from being resolved. Read more about the project on the artists website
The extremely well received book and stills from the project culminated with a London Exhibition, mounted and framed by A.Bliss. The larger prints being displayed on 3mm Dibond and set in hand stained and waxed oak tray frames. The smaller images were set in box frames finished in the same way but behind glass.
